Its always been like that in wnba. Not uncommon for top 5 picks to average 2 points and get cut after one season. Charli Collier was #1 in 2021 and hasnt been on a roster in 2 years. There was a stretch where a lot of the older vets in the wnba were not ready to retire. As a result, many younger talent didn't have roster spots. It's the question of do you prioritize having vets or young talent to fill out your roster.
