Dude literally filmed himself committing a federal crime. And, we're not talking about the FBI here, this is the Secret Service. They'll have a few questions for him. A relative of mine worked for decades in the counterfeit division of the SS. He said they follow up on literally everything. There are a few rules when it comes to committing crimes:

1. Do it under local jurisdiction. Those cops don't care unless it's an excuse to pull out their guns.

2. Don't commit federal crimes. Those guys DO care, and they won't be pulling any guns on you.

So, this dude called as many Bob Fergusons in the state of Washington he could until he found two willing to sign off on being bogus governor candidates. He bragged on social media and in interviews about doing it. Now, he's backtracking, saying he'll withdraw the names. Why? Because there is a law in Washington that carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison for this. Guess who proposed the law? The state's GOP legislators, because they claimed the Dems would pull a stunt like this. The Dems were, like "no, but sounds like a pretty good law!" so they passed it.

That thread is depressing. Skimmed through it once, its two extremes going back and forth. The solution is somewhere in between for these kids.

Yeah it's a mess. There's some misinformation, some disinformation, and some folks who have a rational level of concern without going over the top with it.
