That was a great response.

Despite spending all his career in sports commentary, Mr Smith appears to have an issue with translating statistics into plain language. Having a larger proportion of Black folks in prison doesn't mean that the majority of us (>50%) have dealt with the court system as defendants, so I don't know how Donald Trump was right to say that Black Americans can relate to what he's going through. On top of that, the way he worded his response never challenges Trump's assumption that Black people have an affinity with/preference for criminal activities.

Which brings us to Blacks 4 Trump (aka Black Voices for Trump), you know, that hodgepodge group of Blacks (mostly men) who have proclaimed their allegiance to Trump and who stump for him despite his lackluster attempts at any tangible metrics with the Black community. Don’t act like you don’t remember Michael Symonette, Maurice Woodside and Mikael Israel (these are not three people; it’s one man who has gone by three names), more commonly know as “Michael the Black Man” (his name for himself, not mine) who magically appeared behind Trump at a 2017 rally in Arizona.

Without mass global worker uprisings, our political choices for the coming years will be:

1.) climate authoritarianism with cosmopolitan, therapeutic, HR style language attached to it. The US-Israeli-NATO model. “I don’t feel safe knowing that Mexicanx and Palestinianx bodies are pushing for so-called freedom of movement, I read an article in Slate that those communities SA’d neurodivergent smol beans in Israel—the only middle eastern country with a gay friendly resort with a lazy river—queer joy is everything—please bomb G*za and hold H*mas accountable with drones piloted by girl bosses.”

2.) climate authoritarianism with chauvinistic, reactionary, irredentist language attached to it. The Hungarian-Russian model. “If we could just murder every trans person, make everyone go to church, and make all women be housewives, our problems will be solved” (also popular with a lot of Americans)

3.) climate authoritarianism with feigned anti colonial language attached to it. The China-BRICs model. “A Chinese billionaire, a South African billionaire, and Brazilian billionaire, run a child labor fueled cobalt mine, take that Western Colonialism!”

Blinken Is Sitting on Staff Recommendations to Sanction Israeli Military Units Linked to Killings or Rapes

A special State Department panel told Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the U.S. should restrict arms sales to Israeli military units that have been credibly accused of human rights abuses. He has not taken any action.

The incidents under review mostly took place in the West Bank and occurred before Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel. They include reports of extrajudicial killings by the Israeli Border Police; an incident in which a battalion gagged, handcuffed and left an elderly Palestinian American man for dead; and an allegation that interrogators tortured and raped a teenager who had been accused of throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails.


Recommendations for action against Israeli units were sent to Blinken in December, according to one person familiar with the memo. “They’ve been sitting in his briefcase since then,” another official said.

Between Blinken and Garland, I'm starting to question Biden's choices when it comes to nominating folks who can do the difficult, but just thing.

Let's hope that a long-term aspect of US foreign policy is to decouple ourselves from Israel.
